Custom poller returns incorrect values

Issue:

User builds a Universal Device Poller and when polling the device, correct values are returned. When the data is graphed in Orion NPM, incorrect values are returned.

Resolution:

MIB values and tables are classified by data types. These values are normally stated in the OID details of the respective MIB values and tables. To retrieve the correct values, UDP must be set to the correct poller type. The Universal Device Poller offer three different poller types:

  • Rate – Uses the data types: Integer, UInteger, UnsignedInteger32, Gauge, and Gauge32.
  • Counter - Uses the data types, Counter, Counter32, and Counter 64.
  • Raw Value - Returns the raw value of the OID being polled.

These options can be adjusted by clicking the Show Advanced Options button on “Define Your Universal Device Poller.”
