Create an NPM wireless alert for a specific MAC address

Overview

This article describes how to create an alert that triggers when a client with a specific MAC address connects to a resource using WiFi. 

Environment

  • NPM 12.0 and above 

Steps

  1. Follow the instructions for creating an alert.
  2. In the Trigger Condition tab, do the following:
    1. Select Custom SQL Alert (Advanced).
    2. Set up your SQL condition by selecting Wireless Access Point.
    3. In the Query field, add the following query:
      JOIN Wireless_Interfaces wi ON (NPM_NV_WL_ALERT_APS_V.id=wi.ParentID) 
      JOIN Wireless_Clients wc ON (wi.ID=wc.ParentID) 
      WHERE wc.MACAddress='<yourMACaddress>'
