This article describes how to create a report using a resource. For example, let's say you need a chart displaying Percent Utilisation of an interface, and you want that chart to be sent to an email address at regular intervals. That functionality is not available in Report writer. But you can achieve this by creating a report from a resource, as described below.

NPM all versions

You must create the resource and then schedule the email.

Create the Resource

  1. From the web console, click Settings.
  2. Click Manage Nodes.
  3. Expand a node and select an interface.
  4. On the Interface Details page, select Customize Page.
  5. Add a source

For example:

  1. Choose Percent Utilization – Interface Charts > Add Selected Resources.

  2. Highlight the Resource and move it to the top of the column. Then click Done.

  3. Click Edit on the Resource and select the desired data to view on your chart. Then click Submit.

  4. Right click the resource name and select Open Link In New tab.

  5. Copy the URL. (Each URL is unique to the interface that you are editing.)

Set a Schedule to Email the Chart (Add an Action)

  1. In the web console, click Settings.
  2. Choose Manage Reports.
  3. Click the Schedule Manager tab and click Create New Schedule.
  4. Enter a Schedule Name.
  5. Under Reports assigned, paste the resource URL you copied previously. Click Next.

  6. Configure the frequency.
  7. Add the action and Save Changes.
  8. After you have configured your schedule, test the report:
    1. Return to the Schedule manager.
    2. Select your newly created schedule.
    3. Choose the ‘RUN NOW’ option.
