Table of contents

The following procedure describes how to create a basic custom chart resource for bandwidth utilization.

  • Orion Platform
  • NPM

  1. Log in to your Orion Web Console.
  2. Go to My Dashboards > Home > Summary.
  3. Point to the pencil icon in the left pane and click Customize Page.
  4. Select from Column 1 or Column 2 or you may also create a new Column if needed.
  5. Click on the green plus sign button, search for the "Custom chart", and then add the selected resource.
  6. Click Done to save the changes.
  7. You should be redirected to your Home > Summary page again, scroll down and look for the added Custom Chart.
  8. Click Edit.
  9. Provide a name and select the appropriate Time Period, and click Select Datasource.
  10. Select Specific Objects (static selection).
  11. Select the two interfaces that you need to monitor for bandwidth utilization, and click Update Data Source.
  12. For the left Y-axis, go to Interface > Interface Traffic History > Average Receive bps > click ADD DATA SERIES to save changes.
  13. For the right Y-Axis, do the same steps but select Average Transmit bps.
  14. Click Submit to save the changes.

You should be back on the Orion Web Console home page.

  15. Scroll down and verify the Custom chart.

The above selected DATA SERIES name is meant to display the absolute number per bps. If you need to change it to percentage utilization, try changing it to "Received Percent Utilization" and "Transmit Percent Utilization".
