This article goes over the how to resolve an issue where the core business layer plugin is crashing with the following outofmemory exception error:

Cause 

The issue is caused by the core business layer running out of resources available to it when attempting to validate the server certificate.

Resolution

Upgrade to NPM 11.5.3 or later.
