Repair the installation of an Orion Platform product with Windows Control Panel and the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard

Overview

This article describes how to repair the installation of the Orion Platform product using Windows Control Panel and the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard.

Environment

  • All currently supported Orion Platform products

Steps vary according to the Orion Platform version. For products that consume Orion Platform 2016.2 and earlier (such as SAM 6.3), you'll need to open the SolarWinds Configuration wizard from the command line. For more recent versions that consume Orion Platform 2017.1 or later, the wizard runs automatically when you start the Repair process via the Windows Control Panel.

Steps

To repair an Orion Platform product that consumes Orion Platform 2017.3 and later:

  1. Log into the Orion server with an administrator account.
  2. Navigate to the Control Panel's Programs and Features page.
  3. Right-click the Orion Platform product (for example, SolarWinds Server & Application Manager vX.X) and select Repair.
  4. If prompted by a User Account Control message to allow the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard to run, click Yes.
  5. Complete the Configuration wizard using the default options.

 

To repair an Orion Platform product that consumes Orion Platform 2016.2 and earlier:

  1. Log into the Orion server with an account that has administrator privileges.
  2. Navigate to the Control Panel's Programs and Features page.
  3. Right-click the Orion Platform product (for example, SolarWinds Server & Application Manager vX.X) and select Repair. Follow the onscreen instructions.
  4. Open a command prompt, using the Run as administrator option.
  5. Run the following command to start the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard:
    • "C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\ConfigurationWizard.exe" /repairpackages
  6. If prompted by a User Account Control message to allow the SolarWinds Configuration Wizard to run, click Yes.
  7. In the wizard, select all the Options (Database / Website / Services).
  8. Complete the Configuration wizard using the default options.
