Configuration Wizard fails because it is unable to connect to NTA database

Overview

This article describes the issue when the Configuration Wizard fails because it is unable to connect to NTA database.

An error in the Configuration Wizard logs appear:

ERROR SceneContainer - SceneContainer:bntNext_Click: System.Net.Sockets.SocketException (0x80004005): The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found

Environment

NPM version 11.5.2

Resolution

  1. Remotely access your NTA server.
  2. Run the Netflow Configuration Wizard. This establishes the connection.
  3. Re-run Configuration Wizard on the Orion server.
