Configuration wizard failure during an additional polling engine installation

Issue

The NPM installation on an additional polling engine fails during the compatibility check with an error. Possible errors:

Resolution

Review the resolution for your error message.

Can't receive data from SolarWinds Information Service

Can't receive data from SolarWinds Information Service. An unsecured or incorrectly 
secured fault was received from the other party.

Cause

The NPM admin account has no password information.

 

To resolve the issue:

Set up the new password for the admin account. Use this account to log into the main polling engine during the installation.

  1. In the Orion Web Console, click Settings > Manage Accounts.
  2. Select the Admin account, and then click Change Password.
  3. Type the New Password and Confirm Password.
  4. Click Submit.

Setup is missing an installation prerequisite

When running the Configuration wizard, the following error displays:

 

To resolve the issue:

  1. Navigate to C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Installers.
  2. Run installers SSCERuntime_x64-ENU & SSCERuntime_x86-ENU.

Database configuration failed: Exception while configuring plugin Integrated Virtual Infrastructure Monitor component VIM Database

The Configuration wizard fails with a database configuration error.

To resolve the issue:

  1. Check the Configuration wizard Log located at C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion.
  2. Look for an error in regards to Licensing. 
  3. Open the License Manager.
  4. Activate the Additional Polling Engine license.
  5. Run the Configuration wizard
