Change the location of the log files stored in C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds

Updated January 3, 2017

Overview

This article describes how to change the location of the log files stored in C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds.

Environment

All NPM versions

Cause

Low capacity drive.

Resolution

SolarWinds uses the Windows %ALLUSERSPROFILE% to store its logs. This is not configurable within the SolarWinds environment because it is a Windows setting.

If you need to move the log file, you must change the Windows variable. This is a global Windows setting, like temp, windir, and others. Be aware that changing this setting will affect other applications outside of SolarWinds.
