Automate the Desktop Notification Tool login using an AD account

Overview

 This article describes how to automate the login credentials to the Desktop Notification Tool using a Microsoft Active Directory (AD) account. 

Environment

  • All NPM versions
  • Windows 10
  • Windows Server 2016

Steps

Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016 systems

  1. Open Run and execute:
    rundll3exe keymgr.dll,KRShowKeyMgr

    The Stored User Names and Passwords window displays.

  2. Select SolarWinds Desktop Notification Tool, and click Edit.
  3. Enter a new user name and password, and then click OK.
  4. Restart the system

Windows 8,1, Windows 10, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Server 2016 systems

  1. Go to Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Credential Manager.
  2. Select Windows Credentials. 
  3. Locate SolarWinds Desktop Notification Tool, and click Edit. 
  4. Change the user name and password with the Active Directory (AD) account that you want to use.
  5. Click Save.
