Overview

This article addresses an issue with alerts not showing the drop-down menu when editing the old alerts or creating a new alert such as, Node Status is equal to... no drop-down menu.

Environment

NPM 11.5.3 and earlier versions

Cause

There seems to be an issue with the alerting engine and it shows ERROR NewAlertingService -
System.InvalidOperationException: Sequence contains no elements in the logs
.

To check this error, go to C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Logs\Orion and open Alerting.Service.V2 log.

Resolution

  1. Run the Configuration Wizard as an administrator.
  2. Select all 3 options (Database, Services, Website).
  3. Allow the Configuration Wizard to finish, do not skip website optimization.
  4. Open the Web Console. If there is an error (as the plugins have not fully started yet), try again after a few minutes.
