Overview

This article provides steps (SQL query) to allow adding additional record to the Websites table in Orion database. These steps can be used to update URL for the Orion web console to use a DNS alias instead of the hostname of the server.

Environment

  • Orion Platform 2016.2 and earlier

Detail

Note:

  • Before making any manual changes to the database, make sure to back up the database.

To add a record to the Websites table, follow the steps below:

  1. Log in to the Orion Server.

  2. Open the Orion Database Manager.

  3. Expand the Server.
  4. Expand the Orion Database.
  5. Double-click the Websites table (or any table as it makes no difference).
  6. Overwrite the existing query with the following query:

    INSERT INTO [dbo].[Websites] ([ServerName],[IPAddress],[Port],[SSLEnabled],[Type])
    VALUES ('HOST','(All Unassigned)','PORT',SSL,'TYPE')

HOST - hostname, FQDN, IP address
PORT - relevant port (i.e. 80 for default Non-SSL, 443 for default SSL)
    SSL - 0 if Non-SSL or 1 if SSL
TYPE - additional or primary depending on function of the website (Note: there can only be one primary and the first one will always be selected in case multiple primary records are in table)
  7. Click Execute Query.
  8. Close Database Manager.
  9. Once the Entry has been Added Please Restart all Orion Services using Orion Service Manager

Note:  If you are using a DNS alias as the Server Name, you may need to revisit these changes after the Configuration Wizard is run.
