This article provides brief information and steps to add a location to the Location field for nodes monitored via SNPM.

The location field is populated by an SNMP Get Request, so nodes that do not send SNMP information to Orion have their location set to Unknown

It is possible to change the Location field in the database, but on the next polling cycle, Orion will return the Location field to Unknown.

All NPM versions

1. Create a custom property for your nodes.

2. Name it Location2.

3. Request your database administrator to write a query that copies the contents of the Location field into the Location2 field.

3. Sort your list of nodes in the System Manager and in the Web Console by the Location2 field.

You can now update the Location2 field for your ICMP nodes and have them in their proper groups.
