Add devices to the Discovery Ignore List in NPM

Updated December 21, 2018

Overview

This article describes how to add devices to the Discovery Ignore List in the Orion Web Console located at Settings > Network Discovery. By placing elements on the Discovery Ignore List, you can minimize the SNMP processing load associated with discovering elements that you never intend to monitor.

This article can help you maintain your deployment if you are running low on monitored elements for your license level or need to reduce the load caused by automatic discovery on network devices.

Environment

  • NPM All versions

Resolution

  1. Log in to the Orion Web Console.
  2. Click Settings > Network Discovery.
  3. Click Scheduled Discovery Results.
  4. Select the devices you want to ignore, and click Add to Ignore List.
The selected devices are removed from the schedule discovery results and added to the Discovery Ignore List. These devices will not be included in the next automatic discovery.
See Unable to add nodes to the Discovery Ignore List if you cannot add nodes to the list.

As a workaround option, you can disable the scheduled auto discovery task.
