Overview

Email alerts are not sent and the ActionsExecutionAlert.log located in C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion  is showing the following error:

5.7.1 Unable to relay

Environment

NPM v11.5.x and newer

Cause 

The SolarWinds IP is not configured in the SMTP relay configuration for the SMTP server.

Resolution

Verify with your SMTP Server team that SolarWinds IP is listed in SMTP relay configuration for the SMTP Server (Exchange) and it is allowed to relay.
