Interfaces are added every day

Overview

The same interfaces are added to Orion every day. 

Environment

NPM v11.5.2 and earlier

Cause 

The discovery job detecting and adding interfaces is running at the same time every day.

Resolution

There are two steps in the discovery job that need to be stopped or adjusted to not add the unneeded interfaces and unnecessary interfaces should be deleted.

Disable a scheduled discovery

  1. Open the Orion Web Console and go Settings > Network Sonar Discovery
  2. Click the discovery that needs to be changed.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. In the Discovery Wizard, click next to the Discovery Scheduling tab.
  5. Set the Frequency to once and then select No, do not run now.
  6. Click Save.

Set the interfaces to be added or ignored

  1. Open the Orion Web Console and go to Settings > Network Sonar Discovery.
  2. Click Discovery Ignore List.
  3. Add devices to the Discovery Ignore List:
    a. Click Scheduled Discovery Results.
    b. Select the devices that you want to ignore, and then click Add to Ignore List.
    or
    Remove devices from the Discovery Ignore List:
    a. Click Scheduled Discovery Results .
    b. Select the devices that you want to remove from the list, and then click Remove from Ignore List.
  4. Confirm that you want to stop ignoring the selected items by clicking OK.

 

 

Delete unnecessary interfaces which have been previously discovered and added

  1. Open the Orion Web Console and go to Settings > Manage Nodes.
  2. Click next to Show to change the drop-down to Interfaces.
  3. Select the interfaces to be removed.
  4. Click Delete to remove the interfaces.
