Resources that use custom SQL queries such as reports or the Custom Query resource return an exception error citing incorrect syntax.

Environment

All version of Orion products released after November 2007

 

Cause

This occurs when using lowercase clauses in custom queries on products running in an Orion product that was released after November 2007. Examples are provided below:

For example, the following clause will return an error:

where Nodes.Caption='192.168.10.228'

The following clause will work as expected in this manner:

WHERE Nodes.Caption='192.168.10.228'

Resolution

Modify your SQL queries to use uppercase for SQL clauses.
