Inaccurate Cisco hardware health is in warning or critical state

Updated December 1, 2016

This article discusses the issue when Cisco devices like Cisco 3850, Cisco 4500 series, etc. are getting warning or critical hardware health state. You may receive invalid/false alerts for power supply voltage sensor and bias current sensor.

NPM version 12 and later

This is because the Cisco MIB supported by the device doesn't match the Preferred Cisco MIB that Orion is set to poll.  The steps outlined below will resolve this issue when the conflict exists with the default CISCO-ENTITY-SENSOR-MIB, however, the correct MIB to select will depend on the Cisco device.

1. In the SolarWinds Web Console, click on the Settings.
2. Click Manage Nodes.
3. Find and select the node in question.
4. Click Edit Properties.
5. Near the bottom of this screen, find the section Hardware Health Polling.
6. From the drop-down menu, select CISCO-ENVMON-MIB.
7. Click Submit.

Let it poll for 10-15 minutes and see if the issue still persists.
