WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

This article describes how to identify which of the monitored nodes in Orion are no longer responding to the SNMP credentials entered.

Environment

NPM v11.0 and later

Steps

  1. Launch Orion Database Manager (Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advance Features).
  2. Enter the following SQL query:
    SELECT Nodes.NodeID AS NetObjectID,Nodes.Caption AS Name
    From Nodes
    WHERE
    (
    (DATEDIFF(mi,Nodes.LastSystemUpTimePollUtc,getutcdate()) > 20) AND
     Nodes.Status= '1' AND
     Vendor NOT LIKE 'Unknown'
    )
    OR
    (
    Nodes.Status = '1' AND
    Vendor NOT LIKE 'Unknown' AND
    LastSystemUPTimePollUtc IS NULL
    )
  3. You will get the following result:

As an example, we will edit the SNMP Credentials on Node ID 20.

The SQL Query below will provide the same results:

Select NodesStatistics.nodeid as NetobjectID, nodesdata.caption as Name
From NodesData
Inner Join NodesStatistics on Nodesdata.nodeid=NodesStatistics.nodeid
Where NodesStatistics.LastSystemuptimepollUTC < dateadd(s,pollinterval*2*-1,getutcdate())
