IPv4 addresses display instead of IPv6 when spoofing the address in forwarded trap messages

Updated March 17, 2017

Overview

When you create a rule to forward trap messages in the Trap Viewer application and select Spoof Network Packet, all IPv6 addresses are translated to IPv4. This includes addresses in the trap message and the originating address.

Environment

All products running on Orion Platform, such as:

  • NPM
  • SAM
  • NTA
  • NCM

Cause

This is a known issue.

Resolution

Do not use the Spoof Network Packet option in the Trap Viewer application when working with IPv6 addresses.
