Overview

Are you still able to retrieve historical data of an interface when they removed and re-added interface/s from the List Resources of a node.

Environment

NPM 11.5.x and later

Detail

  • As soon as the interface/s is removed from the List Resources, the Orion database will delete the record on 'Interfaces' record.
  • However, its historical data in 'InterfaceTraffic*' tables still exist.
  • When that interface/s is re-added on the List Resources, it will create new record this time with a different InterfaceID. So even if the historical data is still there, Orion web console won't display the stored information from the old InterfaceID.
  • On the next schedule of Database Maintenance (by default every 2:15AM), the Orion Database will delete all the historical data from 'InterfaceTraffic*' tables for the old InterfaceID because it will be classified as a stale data as the InterfaceID no longer exists in the 'Interfaces' table.
