Hardware polling failed: Error 31040 - Timeout

Overview

Hardware Health overview resource shows undefined hardware health. The Nodes Details page of nodes that have undefined hardware health, the Hardware details show “Orion hardware polling failed error 31040”. SNMP Tests are successful to these nodes.

Cause 

Error 31040 is a SNMP timeout from the device.

 

Resolution

Only way to fix it is by increasing the SNMP timeout value or decreasing the latency.

1. From the Orion web console, go to Settings > Polling Settings.

2. From the Polling Settings page, Under Network, look for SNMP TIMEOUT.
3. Change the value of SNMP TIMEOUT to 5000 ms.
4. Click Submit to save the changes.
