Overview

The Orion Web Console is displaying the following, or similar, error message:
Server Error in Application
HTTP Error 404.7 – FILE_EXTENSION_DENIED
HRESULT: 0
Description of HRESULT # The operation completed successfully.

Resolution

This is a known issue that is addressed in the Microsoft Support Knowledge Base article, Error message when you try to browse a Web page that is hosted on IIS 7.0: "HTTP Error 404.7 – FILE_EXTENSION_DENIED.
Note: This article recommends allowing all file extensions. If, as indicated in the article, you want to allow only the selected file extensions that SolarWinds requires, ensure that the following extensions are allowed:

  • Pages: .aspx, .html
  • Services: .asmx, .ashx, .axd
  • Resources: .js, .css
  • Images: .png, .gif, .jpg, .ico
  • Toolset ActiveX and Network Atlas download: .exe
  • Remote desktop (Toolset Activex feature): .cab
