Groups created are not displayed in the Orion Web Console

Updated July 10, 2017

Overview

This article describes an issue where groups created are not displayed in the Orion Web Console via the additional web server. The groups are only displayed in the primary Web Console.

The Information Service v3 log shows a warning message related to a missing limitation ID:

2017-06-21 16:11:59,434 [77] WARN  SolarWinds.Orion.Web.DAL.LimitationDALImplementation - w3wp| /LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT-1-131425203115569392| SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Reporting.DataTableQueryEntities.Query()| /orion/rendercontrol.aspx?ResourceID=13578&NetObject=N%3A7221&NamingContainer=ctl00%24ctl00%24ctl00%24BodyContent%24ContentPlaceHolder1%24MainContentPlaceHolder%24nodeResHost%24resContainer%24rptContainers%24ctl00%24rptColumn3&isNOCView=&currentUrl=aHR0cHM6Ly9tY2wtc3d3ZWIxLm1mbGRjbGluLm9yZy9Pcmlvbi9OZXRQZXJmTW9uL05vZGVEZXRhaWxzLmFzcHg_TmV0T2JqZWN0PU46NzIyMQ%3D%3D (null) Could not find limitation with id xxx.

Resolution

  1. Go to the Views table and filter it based on the limitation ID mentioned in the warning message.
  2. Take note of the View ID that has the limitation ID number shown in the warning message. This will serve as back up, or you may backup your Orion database.

  3. From the Orion server, go to Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Orion Database Manager.

  4. Click Add Default Server to connect to the SQL server that hosts the Orion database.

  5. Expand the SQL Server, and then right-click on your Orion database.

  6. Select New Query.

  7. Paste the following query:
Note: xxx is the ID found in the warning message.

update views Set LimitationID = '0' where limitationID = 'xxx'
  8. Click Execute Query.

  9. Run the following query to clear the cache using Orion Database Manager:

    Delete from dbo.LimitationSnapshots
    Delete from dbo.ContainerMemberSnapshots
    Delete from dbo.PendingNotifications
    Delete from dbo.SubscriptionTags
    Delete from dbo.Subscriptions
