Overview

When user exports to PDF, the process fails and  receives the following error:

Export to PDF failed. Error: The hostname could not be parsed.

Environment

NPM 10.5 and later

Resolution

Edit the web.config file to include the hostname by taking the following steps:

  1. Navigate to C:\inetpub\SolarWinds and find the web.config file.
  2. Open the file and find the following string:
<add key="ExportToPDF.HttpsServerName" value=""/>

  3. The value in the field must be empty. Add the host name of your server within the quotes as shown below:

<add key="ExportToPDF.HttpsServerName" value="nms.vclk.net"/>

  4. Save the file and exit.
