Event ID 1001 - Detection of product '{xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx}', feature 'SupportFiles' failed during request for component

Overview

This article describes a potential fix for the following error that displays in Event Viewer:

Event ID 1001 - Detection of product '{xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx}', feature 'SupportFiles' failed during request for component '{xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx-xxx}'

You may notice this event before the Restart Manager and Orion services are stopped.

Resolution

  1. On RegEdit, identify the product name of the application tied to the GUID in the error.
  2. Uninstall the application. In this example, you also need to uninstall NCM-NPM integration.
  3. Reboot the server.
  4. Re-install the applications you removed. Verify that you run the installers as a local administrator.  
  5. Complete the configuration wizard.
