Issue:

While exporting the NPM charts to XLS the following error appears:

Error during serialization or deserialization using the JSON JavaScriptSerializer. The length of the string exceeds the value set on the maxJsonLength property.
Parameter name: input

Cause:

The maxJsonLength property value may not defined and also in the chart design 'INTERFACE TABLE' variables are used instead of 'INTERFACE TRAFFIC' variables

Resolution:

  1. Stop the SolarWinds Services - Starting / Stopping Orion Services.
  2. Go to your web directory “C:\Inetpub\SolarWinds\Orion\Services\”
  3. Edit the Web.config file
  4. Change the string “<jsonserialization>” to “<jsonserialization maxjsonlength="999999999">”,  where  ‘999999999’ = Absolute Max Value</jsonserialization></jsonserialization>
  5. Save the file.
  6. Start the SolarWinds Services - Starting / Stopping Orion Services.
  7. Also use 'INTERFACE TRAFFIC' variables in chart design  (create custom report choosing 'Historical - Interface Traffic')
