Error logs appear after uninstalling SQL from the Orion Server

Overview

This article describes the issue when you move the database to another server, uninstall SQL from the Orion server and this error log appears:

ERROR SceneContainer - SceneContainer:bntNext_Click: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.SqlServer.ConnectionInfo, Version=11.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=89845dcd8080cc91' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.

Environment

  • All Orion products
  • Windows 2008
  • Windows 2012

Cause 

This issue occurs when you SQL component is not found and it is unable to communicate with the server. 

Resolution

  1. Execute CLR types and Shared Management Objects .msi files for both x86, x64 architectures, SQL Server 2008 and Server 2012. Download links are provided below:

  2. Check if the SSCE files are installed.
    1. Stop all Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager.
    2. Go to C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers.
    3. Run the SSCERuntime-xXX-ENU.msi that matches your operating system (x32 or x64 bit), and repair.
    4. Restart all Orion Services using the Orion Service Manager. 
  3. Run the Orion Configuration Wizard.
    1. Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Configuration and Auto Discovery > Configuration Wizard.
