Overview

Error:

The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.

Environment

All versions of Orion Core products

Cause

The issue occurs due to a missing .msi installer in the installers folder. Look for the error below in the OrionInstaller.log file located at C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds:

2014-03-21 21:48:22,326 [18] INFO OrionInstallerLib.MsiDatabaseInfo - Found related product "SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2012.2" v112.2.1504.5 already installed.

** Example 2: You may also see an error such as this:

Resolution

  1. Copy the Product name string in quotes from the info message in the OrionInstaller.log.
  2. Open RegEdit and search for the string.

For example, from the above search for SolarWinds Orion Core Services 2012.2. You will find a UniqueID Key under HKEY_CLASSIS_ROOT\Installers\Products that will have a ProductName string value that matches the above.

Warning: Consult your System Administrator before performing this procedure.

  3.  Delete the entire key(folder) under HKEY_CLASSIS_ROOT\Installers\Products for that UniqueID Key **You may want to backup the key just in case**

  4.  Rerun upgrade installation package.

Note: You may need to do this several times as several product sources may be invalid

**Example 2
Find a UniqueID key under same directory (HKEY_CLASSIS_ROOT\Installers\Products) without the 'Product Name' field (could be several) and remove it then run through steps 4.
