Overview

This article describes how to enable the Interface Unknown event as this is not recorded or logged by default in the events log.

Environment

All NPM versions

Steps

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features > Database Manager > Add Default Server.
  2. Expand the NPM Database (default) SolarWinds Orion.
  3. Select and right click eventtypes table and then select Query Table.
  4. Run the following query:
    Select  * from [dbo].[EventTypes
    Look for Interface unknown in the Name column it should be Eventtype 13 if not change the number after eventtype in the next query
    Update  [dbo].[EventTypes] set record = '1' where eventtype = 13
