Email alert showing exponential value instead of actual bandwidth utilization in mbps units

Updated December 13, 2016

Overview

After upgrading using the 11.0 > 11.5.3 > 12.0 > 12.0.1 path, alerts were not

Alerts were not properly migrated after upgrading using the 11.0 > 11.5.3 > 12.0 > 12.0.1 path. This resulted to the actual value of bandwidth utilization not being interpreted correctly within email alert.

For example, it is showing as 8.706991E+07 instead of the actual mpbs values (984622mbps) in the email alert being received.

Environment

NPM 12.0.1

Cause

The alert was not migrated properly from the previous to the later Orion version.

Resolution

  1. Edit the alert triggered action.
  2. Add the variable to display the actual bandwidth utilization correctly ${N=SwisEntity;M=Outbps;F=Bandwidth}bps.
