Overview

This article provides brief information and a resolution to the following error when importing nodes: 

ERROR SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Common.MessageUtilities - Exception caught in method ProvideFault  System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException (0x80004005): Unspecified error

 

 

The event logs or collector logs show similar errors:

 System.Data.OleDb.OleDbException (0x80004005): Unspecified error

Environment

  • ALL NPM versions
  • MS Server 2008 and later

 

Cause 

The error is caused by a problem with the Office System Driver on the server.

 

Resolution

  1. Install the following hotfix from MIcrosoft:

  2. Re-import the nodes.
