WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

The Out-Of-The-Box Alerts (OOTBA) come with the installation of NPM and are helpful templates to get you started.

Since they are templates, they are protected from being accidentally deleted by selecting and hitting delete button like the User Created alerts are.

Environment

NPM v11.5.3

Steps

If you still want to remove the helpful alert templates, there is a way to completely remove them under your alert configurations table on your database, untick under the column: 'Canned' for the row of alert you would like to have ability to delete.

  1. Use the Database manager to Query Orion DB on AlertConfigurations table:
    SELECT * FROM [dbo].[AlertConfigurations]
  2. Scroll to the last column to find Canned.
  3. When this is selected, the Alert in that row is in protected mode and is unable to be deleted.
  4. Click Enable table editing and deselect the tickbox under the Canned column
  5. Go back under Manage Alerts and you will be able to delete the Out of the box alert.
