Overview

This article describes the default ping settings for NPM.

Details

By default, NPM ICMP settings is set to 120 seconds.

 

Default Node Poll Interval:

Check response time and status every configured time interval.

 

ICMP Timeout:

All ICMP (ping) requests made by the SolarWinds poller time out if a response is not received within the period designated. By default, this period is 2500 ms.

 

ICMP Data:

This string is included within all ICMP packets sent by SolarWinds.  The default size is 23 bits..  Please be aware that the default PING size for a command prompt PING is 32 bits.  You can add 9 characters to the default data set in this setting to increase the ICMP packet size to 32 bits.
