WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

To assist in the performance of some specific queries, DPA or some other similar tool recommends that Indexes are created for the Orion Database.

Any Orion Platform product

  • It is not recommended to implement any changes recommended by DPA/Database Monitoring tool here.
  • Any index changes would not be valid in an upgrade procedure and it may block upgrades.
  • Index recommendations tend to be specific to improve performance of one specific SQL Statement but adding the Index could actually do more performance harm overall to the database if it is an OLTP backend.
  • Specific to Orion, we use it in multiple ways for the Orion products. It is an OLTP first and foremost and reporting secondary.
