Overview

This article provides steps to customize an SNMP Trap email message.

Steps

1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Syslog and SNMP Traps > Trap Viewer > View > Alerts/Filters Rules.

2. Find the rule you have earlier setup on Alerts/Filters Rules, mark it and then click Edit and OK.

3. On Alert Actions, select Send E-Mail/Pageand then click Edit Actionand OK.

4. On Messageedit the Message as required, and then click OK.

5. Click the Help with Macrosbutton and find the required correct variables.

To extract the Variable Bindings from the example trap, use ${vbNamex}:${vbDatax}, where x = variable binding row.   

${vbName1}:${vbData1} will yield sysUpTime : 174 days 13 hours 19 minutes 23.19 seconds (1508156319).
