Custom SWQL query to find muted nodes or interfaces

Table of contents

Updated March 27, 2017

Overview

NPM 12.1 now has the feature to mute nodes or interfaces from Alerts. This article provide steps on how to create a report to get a list of nodes or interfaces alerts that are muted.

Environment

NPM 12.1 or later

Steps

  1. There are two SWQL queries you can copy or paste into a Custom Query resource on a view/page in order to find muted nodes or interfaces:
/* SWQL query to find muted Node Names*/
    SELECT T2.caption FROM Orion.AlertSuppression T1
    join Orion.Nodes T2
    on T1.entityuri= T2.Uri
/* SWQL query to find muted Interface Names*/
    SELECT T2.caption FROM Orion.AlertSuppression T1
    join Orion.NPM.Interfaces T2
    on T1.entityuri= T2.Uri
  2. Click Customize Page to add these Custom Queries.
  3. Click the + button to add a resource/widget.
  4. In the Search Query, enter CUSTOM. It should look like the image below:
  5. Click Done and go to your main window for that view.
  6. Find the newly added widget/resource and then click Edit.
  7. You will find a blank query window here where you need to paste the follow query in the Muted Nodes:
    SELECT T2.caption FROM Orion.AlertSuppression T1
    join Orion.Nodes T2
    on T1.entityuri= T2.Uri
  8. Paste the following query to find the Muted Interface Captions:
    SELECT T2.caption FROM Orion.AlertSuppression T1
    join Orion.NPM.Interfaces T2
    on T1.entityuri= T2.Uri
  9. Click Submit.

If you made two copies of the Customer Query resource, edited them, and then renamed them accordingly, the end Result should look like the image below:
