Overview

The following error appears when attempting to edit/access the Custom List of Reports resources:

Object reference not set to an instance of an object.

Environment

NPM 11.5.3

Cause

The resource could not complete its query.

Resolution

  1. Go to Start > All Programs > Solarwinds Orion > Documentation and Support > Log Adjuster and set the website to Debug.
  2. Reproduce the issue on the webpage by trying to edit the resource.
  3. Review the OrionWeb.log (C:\programdata\solarwinds\logs\Orion) and see which report it was querying before the error occurred.
  4. Review that report and make sure that there are no duplicate titles and that the report is a valid/working.
  5. Fix any issues you find and retest the page load.
