Overview

While alerting on Hardware Health issues is very simple in Orion, some customers may want to create an alert on specific hardware such as power supply issues. This example shows how to create a Hardware Health alert for power supply issues.

Environment

NPM 11.5 and later

Steps

  1. In the screen shot above, a new alert was created for Hardware Sensor.
  2. Set the 'Trigger alert when' to: All child conditions must be satisfied (AND).
  3. The first comparison was Hardware Type Name is equal to Power Supply.
  4. Add an And/Or block as 'At least one child condition must be satisfied (OR).
  5. Specify that Original Status is equal to Critical or Minor.

In production, there may be other Original Status values that you wish to be included in the alert.  This alert will trigger on any value specified under the And/Or block we created as 'At least one child condition must be satisfied (OR).
