Create a custom poller to get more info from a node

Overview

This article describes how to add more information to a node (for example, the software versions) that is not currently being polled into the node details.

Environment

NPM 11.5

Steps

  1. Go to Node & Group Management > Settings > Manage Pollers then click Create New Custom Poller.
    For Technology, select Node Details.
    For Vendor, select the vendor of the product that you want to add more data to.
  2. Select one of your nodes from that vendor.
  3. Select what you want to add for that node.
  4. On the Specify Data Source tab, click what you want to add.
  5. Click Define Data Source or Edit Data Source.
  6. Select Cancel on the Constant Value box then click Browse OIDs.
  7. Select the box at the bottom to manually define the Object Identifier.
  8. Provide the name then enter the MIB that thas the software version.
  9. Click Submit.
