Configuring multi-threaded database maintenance

Overview

Solarwinds Database Maintenance can be run with multiple threads. This article provides information to set this up.

Environment

  • Orion SQL database
  • Orion Platform

Steps

In the Orion SQL database, configure the setting in the dbo.Settings table:

 

 

You can change this value using the following query for 4 threads (max is 8):

update settings
set CurrentValue='4'
where settingid='SWNetPerfMon-Settings-MaxMaintenanceThreads'

 

Important: Too many threads can pose a performance risk for some SQL servers.
