Configure website URL for Alerts and Reports

This article provides information on how to use a different Web Console URL (i.e. public URL, Additional Web Server) instead of Primary Polling Engine's one in alerts.


Please note that you can use these instructions to change the website URL to match the DNS name used for a load balancer hosting the SolarWinds websites, however we can't support the configuration of the load balancer itself.


All version of Orion products 


Change host name in URL

  1. Log into the Orion Server.
  2. Open Orion Service Manager.
  3. Click "Stop everything" and wait for all services under the services section to say "stopped". If necessary, wait a few minutes for everything to say "stopped". If it takes a bit too long, you can kill the service from task manager.
  4. Open the Database Manager.
  5. If there is no server on the list, click Add Default Server.
  6. Expand the Orion Database.
  7. Double-click the Websites table.
  8. Click Execute Query.
  9. Click Enable Table Editing.
  10. Edit the ServerName column for the primary polling engine to reflect what you would like the URL link to resemble in alert message.
    This shows where the NEW-HOST-NAME represents the entry under ServerName engine websites table.
  11. Close the Database Manager.
  12. Restart all Orion services.


Set the primary URL

  1. Log into the Orion Server.

  2. Open the Database Manager.
  3. If there is no server on the list, click Add Default Server.
  4. Expand the Orion Database.
  5. Double-click the Websites table.
  6. Click Execute Query.
  7. Click Enable Table Editing.
  8. Edit the Type column:
    1. Set the record for the website you want to use for alerts as "primary".
    2. Make sure records for all other websites are set as "additional".
  9. Close Database Manager.
  10. Restart all Orion services.
