Configuration Wizard fails when adding an index to the Orion database

Overview

The Configuration Wizard fails when trying to create an index on the Orion database.  The following error or similar may be encountered:

Cannot add index PK_ConfigWizardLog to ConfigWizardLog -ExecuteNonQuery failed for Database SolarWindsOrion

 

Environment

All Orion applications  

Resolution

Note: The index name may vary from the following example, PK_ConfigWizardLog.

  1. Go to C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Logs\Orion and view the ConfigurationWizard.log from the last run of the Configuration Wizard.  
  2. Locate the error in the log to make sure you have identified the index and table the Configuration Wizard fails on.  
  3. Open Microsoft SQL Management Studio and delete the index specified as seen below.
  4. Run the Configuration Wizard again.  It is possible that you may encounter the issue on more than one index, the process can repeated as needed.
