Configuration Wizard error CREATE UNIQUE INDEX statement terminated because a duplicate key was found

Overview

The following error is returned during an NPM 11.5.x upgrade:

Configuration Wizard error: CREATE UNIQUE INDEX statement terminated because a duplicate key was found for the object name 'dbo.NodeChild StatusParticipation' and the index name 'PK_NodeChildStatusParticipation'. The duplicate key value is (Orion.NPM.Interfaces)  Could not create constraint or index.  See previous errors.  The statement has been terminated.'

Environment

  • NPM 11.x

Cause 

The duplicate key value Orion.NPM.Interfaces exists on the dbo.NodeChild StatusParticipation table.

Resolution

  1. Open the Orion Service Manager.
  2. Select Shutdown Everything.
  3. Open the Database Manager.
  4. Go to table >>Nodechildstatusparticipation.
  5. Delete the extra lines for Interface 'Orion.NPM.Interfaces'.
  6. Re-run the Configuration Wizard to complete.
