Overview

The following Configuration Wizard error occurs while executing script:

Invalid column name 'PollingSource'..

Environment

NPM version 11.0.1

Cause

The error occurs when column PollingSource is missing from the table VIM_Hosts

Resolution

Create a backup of your database before making direct changes.

1. Confirm using the following SQL script if the column exists:
    SELECT * FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.COLUMNS WHERE TABLE_NAME=N'VIM_Hosts' and     COLUMN_NAME=N'PollingSource'

2. If it does not exist, (zero returned rows from the above script), add it using the following script:
ALTER TABLE [VIM_Hosts] ADD [PollingSource] [int] NOT NULL DEFAULT 2

3. Use the script from Step 1 to confirm the column has been added successfully.

4. Re-run the Configuration Wizard.

In case of errors:

a. Collect fresh diagnostics for investigation.
b. Attach the following file from C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion\VIM\:

VIMDatabaseScheme.dbConfig
