After upgrading to NPM 12 Configuration Wizard fails with the following error message:

Database configuration failed:
Exception while configuring plugin Orion Core Services component Orion Database. Method not found: 'Void SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Database.Account.set_AllowMapManagement(System.String)'.

When looking at the actual ConfigurationWizard.log file, you will find the error listed as so:

2016-07-11 12:12:37,664 [15] ERROR ConfigurationProgressScene - Exception while configuring plugin Orion Core Services component Orion Database. System.MissingMethodException: Method not found: 'Void SolarWinds.Orion.Core.Database.Account.set_AllowMapManagement(System.String)'.

Environment

NPM 12.0

Cause

There is an old version of the Solarwinds.Orion.Core.Database.dll that is preventing the Configuration Wizard from completing.

Resolution

Make sure that the correct dlls are available and then run the Configuration Wizard:

  1. Ensure you are logged in as a local administrator onto the Orion Server
  2. Open Windows Programs and Features
  3. Uninstall SolarWinds Orion Core Services
  4. Back up and remove any occurrences of Solarwinds.Orion.Core.Database.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion
  5. Reinstall the CoreInstaller.msi (Date Modified: 5/29/2016 + Size: 585,600KB) from C:\ProgramData\Solarwinds\Installers
  6. Run the Configuration Wizard if not automatically prompted

Resolution 2: There have been some instances where the above resolution does not work. Go to Windows Programs and Features and do a repair of the SolarWinds Orion Core Services and run the Configuration Wizard as Admin.
