Overview

Collector management agent is not working.

This is causing an increase in the MSMQ folder size. The following are example errors found in the logs.

Resolution

Repair/reinstall JobEngine, Collector and Information Service.

 

  1. Stop all services using Orion Service Manager.
  2. Go to C:\Windows\System32\msmq\Storage and delete all files with .mq extension.
    Note: It is possible that there are over 500 files totalling 1GB in size to be deleted.
  3. Recreate Orion files.
    a. Login to the NPM server as a local admin.Access Orion Service Manager  through Start > All Programs     > SolarWinds Orion > Advanced Features then click Shutdown Everything to stop all services.
    b. Go to Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\SolarWinds\Installers. Right click the following then select Uninstall.
        Note: For Windows 2008, the path is C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers.

        JobEngine.v2.msi
        CollectorInstaller.msi
        InformationService.msi
    d. Go to Orion Service Manager and make sure that the SolarWinds JobEngine is Stopped.
    e. Go to C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Installers, right click the following to reinstall:
        Notes:
        - Make sure that UAC is disabled.
        - If Orion is installed on Windows Server 2012, right click on MSI Package > Properties > Compatibility tab > select Run this program in compatibility mode for then select Previous version of Windows.

        CollectorInstaller.msi
        InformationService.msi
    Note: If any of the services do not reinstall, verify that you have UAC enabled.
  4. Restart all services using Orion Service Manager.
