Orion Web Console login and continuous service restart issues

Overview

Users cannot log in to the Orion Web Console and SolarWinds services keep restarting. The following error displays:

System.Data.SqlServerCe.SqlCeException (0x80004005): The CRT binary present in application/bin folder is not signed and can be a potential security risk. Please place the original Microsoft CRT binary in application/bin folder.

Cause

The cause of this issue is unknown.

To resolve the issue, you can turn the certificate revocation check on, but you might experience bad performance.

Environment

  • Orion Platform products

 

Resolution

Your security policies might require you to enforce the check for publishers certificate revocation. To ensure that all PKI-signed objects are validated, enforce the check for publisher's certificate revocation.

Turning the certificate revocation check on might result in deteriorated Orion Web Console performance.

SolarWinds strongly recommends that you back up your registry before editing it and only make registry changes according to our instructions. Failure to follow these instructions can introduce errors into the application or, in some situations, cause operating system issues.

  1. Log in to the server with the issue.
  2. Navigate to the following Registry location.
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER or HKEY_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing
  3. Double-click State > Add the Hexadecimal > value data 23c00.
  4. Navigate to the following Registry location (FOR EACH USER folder under registry One by One).
    HKEY_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\WinTrust\Trust Providers\Software Publishing
  5. Double click State > Add the Hexadecimal > value data 23c00.
  6. Restart the Services. To do so, open the Orion Service Manager and click Start Everything.

SolarWinds services are running without issues now. You are now able to login to the Orion Web Console without issues.
