WebinarUpcoming Webinar: Know What’s Changed – with NEW Server Configuration Monitor

Change management in IT is critical. But, even with a good change management process, changes are too often not correctly tracked, if at all. The configuration of your servers and applications is a key factor in their performance, availability, and security. Many incidents can be tracked back to an authorized (and sometimes unauthorized) configuration change, whether to a system file, configuration file, or Windows® Registry entry. Join SolarWinds VP of product management Brandon Shopp to discover how the new SolarWinds® Server Configuration Monitor is designed to help you.

Overview

This article describes how to check and change your database settings to default.

Environment

All Orion NPM versions

Steps

Notes:

  • It is strongly recommended not to change the default database settings unless you are sure that changes are needed.
  • If changes are necessary to increase the retention, please consult SolarWinds support and consider your SQL deployment environment as it could make drastic changes to the database size.
  • Changing the settings could also create performance issues such as loading graphs/historical graphs, applications, web pages, statistical data.
  • Changes may also cause connection services to the Orion database and high table fragmentation.
  1. Go to Settings > Polling Settings.
  2. Refer to the below screenshot for the default settings.
