Change the SNMP trap port

Table of contents

Overview

This document shows how to manipulate and change SNMP trap port if needed. This is commonly used for security compliance by avoiding the use of common ports and replacing with other available ports.

Environment

All Orion versions

Steps

  1. On your Orion server, go to C:\Program Files (x86)\SolarWinds\Orion and open the SWTrapService.exe.config file.
  2. Locate the <add key="TrapPort" value="162" /> line (most likely in line 17).
  3. Change the port number to the desired value.
  4. Save and close the file.
